Volvo Car Show mode

System overview

The Volvo Car Show mode is a system that enables demonstration of many functions in the car without having the car key present. The system consists of a controller and a power supply unit that has been specially developed for this purpose. NB! Both components are needed to activate the system.

Controller

The controller is plugged into the OBD connector in the car and starts automatically. The two status LED lights are used to check operation and for troubleshooting.

Maybe you have a Show mode controller that looks like this

There is also an USB cable provided in the Show mode kit, to allow you to connect the controller to a computer to update the software. New software is released at least two times per year to support new vehicles and to handle changes in the vehicles.

Power supply

The current power supply unit in the kit is the DEFA Showroom charger 12/50A with specially adapted cable set for Volvo cars. This power supply unit works throughout input voltage of 100 to 240V, with or without the 12V car battery connected in the car.
All power supplies below have been tested to work with Show mode and to work with high continuous load.

The old Primepower 12/30A charger is not supported anymore.
